Fountain City

Since 2018, the Fountain City Jazz Fest has provided Jazz programs with the opportunity to perform and receive feedback from a panel of incredible clinicians. This festival is open to all ability levels and age groups. The format for the Fountain City Jazz Fest is a performance/clinic setup that provides comments and clinics that will help both directors and students achieve growth.

All performances take place on stage in the De Soto HS Theater.  All participating bands receive feedback from a panel of clinicians, a recording of their ensemble, and a one on one clinic with one of our clinicians.

On March 22, the Jefferson High School Jazz Band traveled to DeSoto to participate in the Fountain City Jazz Festival. The students played a great set then got to work with Dr. Joel Vanderheyden (Jefferson College), Mr. Aaron Lehde (Ladue), and Mr. Tony DiPasquale (Belleville Schools and author of the ‘Jazz Lictionary’). The following students were recognized as Outstanding Musicians:

Olivia Sikes

Corey Diester

Ayla Karch

Zach Cavanaugh

Congratulations to everyone who participated in this event and to those four who received Outstanding Musicians honors!
