During the September 17, 2025 Board Meeting, the following honorees were recognized:
Mr. Mike Hermann, former industrial arts teacher, was honored for his lasting impact on our schools and students.
Dr. Haug shared, "What I really admire about Mr. Hermann is his passion for the program. He truly enjoyed the subject matter he taught. If there was a student struggling in the building, he was always willing to take that student under his wing, especially if they enjoyed wood shop. His unselfishness and dedication to kids stood out."
Mr. Hermann also played a key role in supporting the fine arts and theater program, and helped ensure a smooth transition when a new industrial arts teacher joined the district.
The plaque presented to Mr. Hermann reads: "In appreciation for your commitment to kids through your continued support of the Fine Arts and Industrial Arts Program at R-VII."
In his remarks, Mr. Hermann said, "Even though I'm not an educator in the strictest sense anymore, education cannot happen without an excellent staff and the support of parents. I remain convinced that students who do not choose college should still seek out training in an area of their choosing. While I don't spend the same amount of time here as I used to, my dedication to the district continues. My wife and daughters make it hard to stay away, and I jump at any opportunity to support them."
We are grateful for Mr. Hermann's many years of service and for the example he continues to set for our students, staff, and community.
