FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). https://studentaid.gov/ is your official website to file. Completion of the FAFSA should be done as soon as possible after December 1st. You will use your prior years tax information. For example for the Class of 2024, you will complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA and you will use 2022 tax information. Types of financial aid which come from this process include Pell Grants (free money), student loans and work study.
